Directions to The Shires by road
The Shires is north of Stamford on the A1 and is best reached by travelling on the A1. Click here for a location map.
From the SOUTH - Approaching from the South via the A1 from Stamford, look for the brown sign for the Ram Jam restaurant, which is 2 miles from the school. After 1.5 miles, turn left on to the B668 signposted to Oakham. At the junction at the end of the slip road, turn right (signposted Stretton). At the roundabout take the 3rd exit signposted London / Stretton.
This road passes under the A1. At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit to London / Stamford, signposted The Shires. This 2-way road runs parallel to the A1. After 100 yards, you pass Rookery Lane on the left. The Shires is found a further 100 yards along this road on the left-hand side - just before the road rejoins the A1 southbound carriageway.
From the NORTH - Approaching from the North via A1 from Grantham, after about 10 miles turn left on to the B668 to Oakham. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit to London / Stamford, signposted The Shires. This 2-way road runs parallel to the A1. After 100 yards, you pass Rookery Lane on the left. The Shires is found a further 100 yards along this road on the left-hand side just before the road rejoins the A1 southbound carriageway.
