School calendar

The school day starts at 09.00 and finishes at 15.45. Day students are expected to arrive promptly for the start of the school day, and incidents of lateness are recorded.

Term dates for The Shires school for non-residential pupils are in line with Leicester City schools. (LINK)

For residential pupils the school operates for 51 weeks a year with a formal break over Christmas and the New Year. Residents follow a timetable of four days of formal schooling and one day of life skills/leisure activities every week. Because the tuition is continuous pupils are able to take holidays at any time of the year provided that they complete the mandatory 190 days schooling.
