Hello from our Principal, Debra Eason
We welcome you to The Shires, where we provide exceptional education, care and support for young people aged 11-19 years old with autism, associated learning disabilities and complex needs. We are passionate about providing opportunities both inside and outside the classroom, enabling each young person to realise their full academic potential and develop essential social, emotional and life skills.
We deliver a broad and balanced curriculum linked to the developmental stage of each pupil in a supportive communication rich environment. Their education is further supported through the delivery of life skills, vocational opportunities, and any additional support they need to succeed.
The Shires’ highly skilled team tailor our curriculum and learning to each young person’s needs and talents, ensuring they leave with the resources and skills they need to support them on to their next steps and future lives.
In my role as Principal, I am determined to make sure that every young person has a fulfilling education and realises their full potential. I have worked in education for over 20 years, in SEN settings, both in a variety of mainstream and special schools as Headteacher or Principal. I have been an educational consultant for a number of national SEND providers. I am committed to delivering a high quality education and care experience for all our young people.
The Shires is built on trust and partnerships between young people, parents, teachers, support workers and our wonderful local community. As well as providing excellent education and care, The Shires has a lovely welcoming atmosphere and an enriching environment to inspire every young person’s learning.
Our website will give you an overview of the education and support offered by The Shires. If you would like to know more about the opportunities we provide and the difference we make to young people’s lives, or if you have any questions, we are more than happy to answer them, so please do get in touch.
